WIRE FRAME Neck Collar

The LA Wire Frame Neck Collar is a lightweight, airy orthosis that offers easy adjustability and is comfortable to wear due to its flexible wire front structure. The aluminum frame can be easily bent and shaped for a custom fit.

It can be easily shaped to fit short and tall necks, and features an open design for maximum breathability.

The wire is coated with plastizote to ensure all-day comfort, even for patients with skin sensitivities.

The orthosis has a comfortable foam cover that can be easily hand washed for proper hygiene.

Indications:

• C3-C6 ligament/muscle injuries.
• Degenerative disc disease.
• Whiplash injuries.
• Spinal stenosis
• Cervical radiculopathy.
• Rheumatoid arthritis.

Functions:

Serves as a reminder to restrict head movement.
It mechanically limits the forward tilt of the head (flexion) and tends to reduce the activity of the neck contours.
Care must be taken when unstable cervical fractures are present. The wire frame neck brace may not provide adequate stability in these conditions.

Instructions for use:

• Assess the patient and determine size.
• The head must be positioned according to the doctor's instructions.
• The collar comes in a neutral position.
• The chin must fit into the chin piece.
• Shape the structure for maximum contact with the chin, chest and posterior cervical arch. This can be achieved by bending the wire inside the Plastazote liner and at the front of the bracket.
• To increase the flexion, bring the chin and chest parts closer together.
• Extension can be achieved by moving the two sections apart to the desired height or amount of extension desired.
• The width can be adjusted by curving the sides together.
• The occipital support with the aluminum bar allows easy contouring of the component posterior to the cervical arch. Contour the orthoses so that there is no undue pressure on any bony prominences, such as the prominent clavicle and/or sternum.
• If the patient can stand or sit, complete adjustments in these positions.
