Self-ventilation Device - OTOVENT
What is it and what is it for?
The Prim Otovent self-ventilation device is very easy to use. It can be used by children from three years of age, teenagers and adults. It helps to supply air until the pressure in the eardrum is normalized. Helps soothe the discomfort of ear infections quickly and safely.
This equipment helps eliminate secretion from the middle ear, without producing side effects or causing discomfort. With this therapeutic product it is not necessary to use medication or undergo surgery, although its use must be endorsed by a specialist.
The usefulness of the device has been supported by clinical trials, in which it was shown that approximately 50% of people treated stopped developing exudate and improved their hearing ability. This reduces the risk of tympanostomy tube implantation.
The product comes in a storage box, contains a nose and five balloons. As a cleaning measure, it is recommended to wash the part of the device that is inserted into the nose after each use, using a mild soap and then rinse with plenty of clean water.
Who is it suitable for?
This product is indicated to relieve the symptoms of otitis media with effusion (OME) or serous otitis media (OMS). It is also recommended for other cases of ear obstruction.
Instructions for use
Remove the device from the box and place a balloon on the flat part of the mouthpiece. Then, firmly hold the round end of the nose against the left nostril while squeezing the right nostril.
Inhale deeply through your mouth and then inflate the balloon by blowing into your left nostril until it reaches the size of an orange. Make swallowing movements, keeping the inflated balloon close to the nose, then repeat the process through the right nostril.
It is advisable to repeat this procedure three times a day, with one self-inflation per nostril. Treatment should be continued for two to three weeks. The balloon can be reused up to twenty times.
Contraindications
This product is not suitable for children under three months of age. Do not use when there is an ear infection. During use, nosebleeds may occur, which are generally harmless, and in case of persistent discomfort or if any adverse reaction is observed, discontinue use and consult an ear, nose and throat specialist.
Composition: Mouthpiece, nose piece and balloons.
