The DARCO Body Armor® Heel Pad (sold individually) is designed for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers on the heel in bedridden patients, who are predominantly in the supine position, as well as for diabetic foot syndrome.

The foot is cushioned in a pressure-free zone so that all the weight rests on the lower leg, while the heel itself has no contact with the surface of the bed.

Characteristics:

  • Covered with a smooth fabric cover to allow the leg to "move freely" without altering the position of the exposed area.
  • Correct fixation of the product on the patient is achieved with three straps that hold the forefoot and lower leg in an orthograde position.
  • If the leg is rotated excessively about the hip joint, the desired leg position can be achieved with the positioning wedge that is provided with the device.
  • An extra cushion for the calf and dorsal foot area is also provided with the device to facilitate pressure redistribution and secure application of the orthosis.
  • Unique size.
  • Hook and loop closures for easy handling and adjustment.
  • Can be used on the left or right foot.
  • Heel opening for easy visual inspection and monitoring.
  • Ventilation holes to promote air circulation and help regulate the skin's environment.
  • The device is supplied with: forefoot pad, a long leg pad (30 cm), plus a positioning wedge to counter external rotation of the leg, and a wash bag, washable at 60ºC.

Indications:

  • For the prevention and treatment of heel pressure ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome and decubitus ulcers
  • Score of fourteen or less on the Braden scale
  • Diabetes with sensory neurological deficit
  • Non-palpable pedal pulse
  • Paraplegia Prolonged immobility (>hours) or coma
